Summary:

We are currently looking for a Database Administrator IV. Preference will be given to Indian applicants.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible to ensure that the tasks required of the performance-based statement of work (PBSOW) are complete and deliverables are executed on time, and to the satisfaction of the Task Lead, Project Manager and government customer.
  • Install, configure, and upgrade database software and related components, applying patches and updates as needed to ensure system stability and security.
  • Monitor database performance and capacity, proactively identifying and resolving performance issues and optimizing database configurations for peak performance.
  • Develop and implement database backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability in the event of system failures or disasters.
  • Conduct regular database maintenance tasks, including data backups, restores, database reorganizations, and index rebuilds, to optimize database performance and reliability.
  • Manage database security, including user access controls, database encryption, and compliance with data privacy and security regulations.
  • Develop and maintain database documentation, including database design, configuration, and troubleshooting procedures, to facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration within the IT team.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior database administrators and other IT staff, sharing best practices and mentoring team members to enhance their skills and expertise.

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft .Net C# (version 3.0 +), Microsoft Services (IIS 7.0, Application Delivery, etc.), MS SQL Enterprise (2010 +) Oracle applications, Oracle Database (10i +), Oracle Forms, MySQL, Microsoft PowerShell, database design (according to industry best practices) Oracle procedure, function, and package design and creation, Oracle Application Express tools, J2EE, HTML, PHP, Python, XML, and general web based operations and maintenance.
  • Ability to write disaster recovery plans.

  • Has the ability to develop project management documentation.
  • Has the ability to work with minimal guidance.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree or combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of relational database management experience.

     

  • Customer Service requires a minimum of 3 years of related technical experience in supporting various database platforms data center level. Support would include (but not limited to): backup and recovery of systems, patching of systems, providing Tier II/III support to lower tiers, performance tuning, hardware upgrades, operational configurations, resource optimization, etc.

    Has the ability to work with minimal guidance.
