Summary:

The Project Support Specialist will support the Center of Disease Control (CDC) by providing comprehensive support to project teams. This includes coordinating project activities, managing documentation, and ensuring seamless communication between team members and stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be organized, resourceful, and possess excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

 

  • Responsible for performing scientific and technical support to the Quality and Compliance team.
  • Prepare, maintain, and organize laboratory documentation as part of a rigorous document control systems for laboratory quality purposes.
  • Assistance to the quality manager in the development of diagnostic Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to the development of diagnostic protocols and CLIA compliance and quality management system for the branch.
  • Prepare documentation and reports for review by the Quality and Compliance Team Lead in advance of domestic and international inspections.
  • Maintain laboratory files, including material transfer certificates, meeting notes, and electronic databases Review and file Laboratory Safety Review Board (LSRB) competency assessments, editing documents and gathering components for LSRB submission packets.
  • Monitor internet and other media sources for relevant regulatory information regularly.
  • Gathers information, identifies, and analyzes issues, and develops recommendations to resolve substantive problems of effectiveness and efficiency of work operations. These services will provide day-to-day scientific and laboratory support for the implementation of Quality Management System.
  • Develop and maintain formal system for documenting program activities involving consultations with external partners, public health investigations, and laboratory testing in conjunction with PRB laboratory and public health experts.
  • Organize and manage PRB web conferences using Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or other remote meeting systems with internal and external PRB partners Perform routine supply inventory and ordering for PRB field materials. Take meeting notes for the team to document action items.
  • Assist in the validation of diagnostic assays, as needed.

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Highly proficient in using Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication in interpersonal exchanges.
  • Excellent judgment and decision making; capable of working independently with ability to multitask successfully.
  • Highly organized with great attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proactive problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in relevant field with 4+ years of experience supporting multiple projects by providing technical support and general administrative functions OR High School Diploma with 10 years of experience supporting multiple projects by providing technical support and general administrative functions.
  • Previous experience in preparing meeting agendas and minutes for external distribution and leadership review.
  • Experience maintaining official documents and records.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field with 2+ year of experience supporting multiple projects by providing technical support and general administrative functions.
  • Knowledge of project management systems and application of project management software (primarily Microsoft Teams and SharePoint).
