Summary:

Goldbelt Apex is seeking a Public Health Analyst IV to join our team providing administrative, technical, and professional support services to DGHP Office of the Director (DGHP OD) staff and supported branches: the Global Public Health Systems Branch (GPHSB), the Global Surveillance, Laboratory, and Data Systems Branch (GSLDSB), the Global Workforce Development Branch (GWDB), the Global Program and Extramural Management Branch (GEM), and the Global Public Health Emergency Preparedness Branch (GPHEPB).

 

The CDC Global Health Center (GHC)/Division of Global Health Protection (DGHP)/Office of the Director (OD) and supported Branches work to build and strengthen public health capacity by enhancing the ability of CDC, the Global Health Center and its public health partners to prepare for, prevent, and respond to infectious diseases, including outbreaks, bioterrorism, and other public health emergencies through cross-cutting and specialized programs, technical expertise, and public health leadership.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Draft and implement communication strategies and messages to support key DGHP programmatic priorities.
  • Research, write, and edit complex materials in a variety of subject areas to interpret and explain a range of complex subjects.
  • Articulate, interpret, and explain complex and important branch policies and programs. Support the development of written standard operations and procedures based on branch policies and programs.
  • Write and participate in the development of informational documents, manuscripts, success stories, social media materials, newsletters, content on the website, and high-level one-pagers to share across and outside of CDC.
  • Plan and implement scientific communications activities including, but not limited to developing, packaging, and translating scientific communications messages and materials for lay audiences; ensuring materials are written at a level appropriate for the target audience, and that client style/specifications/guidelines have been followed.
  • Assist with formulating ideas and prepare the appropriate materials to communicate information and inform potential stakeholders. Edit and revise documents and information to improve clarity and accuracy, confirm sources, and verify facts, dates, and other scientific information of all documents created under this acquisition.
  • Coordinate communications projects and campaigns from the planning stage; providing additional or missing materials; and editing for content format, flow, and integrity.
  • Maintain technical proficiency required to perform job functions of health communications strategy, writing, editing, and content management.
  • Plan and coordinate media campaign launches related to global health security activities and the Global Laboratory Leadership Program (GLLP).
  • In collaboration with the DGHP and GHC communications teams, assist with creating an expanded presence by developing communication materials highlighting GSLDSB and GLLP for release via social media and raise the visibility of these programmatic areas.
  • Collect information on GLLP implementations around the world to develop GLLP communication products. Lead the coordination/facilitation for the GLLP Communications working group.
  • Develop communication strategies and core messages that highlight DGHP’s unique value, advances the Division goals and priorities.
  • Provide country support and enhance staff engagement by providing tools and assistance to effectively communicate their impact.
  • Ensure brand consistency across all communication channels to help establish a cohesive visual in DGHP.
  • Collect information on activities in countries around the world, including global health emergencies and outbreaks, post-response activities, surveillance and laboratory systems, and capacity building programs to inform the development of GSLDSB communications products.
  • Support communications activities for GSLDSB retreats and other high-level meetings as needed by collecting, synthesizing, analyzing, and developing communications materials. Submit written and/or visual.
  • Support internal communications activities for GSLDSB, as follows: organize division, branch, and country information on SharePoint, and identify ways to ensure information accessibility.
  • Potential travel internationally for communications needs.

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

 

  • Knowledge of communications strategies and social media.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities.
  • Ability to learn and become proficient in CDC systems and CDC/USG regulations.
  • Ability to analyze administrative problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions.
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to interact and provide assistance to government staff and customers around the world with the utmost courtesy and professionalism.
  • Critical thinking skills and attention to detail and deadlines required.
  • Strong organization and professional maturity
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Possess strong work ethic, flexibility, optimism, creativity and personal motivation.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with various team members.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or relevant field OR equivalent years of experience in lieu of degree
  • Minimum three (3) or more years of experience in performing listed tasks.
  • Must be able to obtain a Government Public Trust clearance.
