Summary:
The Military and Family Life Counselor (SCHOOL position) will provide face to face, non-medical counseling (NMC) and additional outreach services to students under the age of 18. The brief, solution-focused counseling services will be mostly in a school environment and sometimes in the larger military installation environment. These services are designed to help participants learn to anticipate and resolve unique challenges associated with military life and aid in the prevention or reduction of the effects of stressors that may detract from military and family readiness. We are currently seeking qualified School Counselors (CYBS) to support the Military and Family Life Counseling (MFLC) program on Fort Wainwright in Fairbanks, Alaska.
MFLC School Counselors provide services to children of military service members to increase their ability to develop strong relationships, solve problems, and adequately express and manage their emotions. School Counselors are assigned to Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) schools and, in some cases, local community schools. MFLC School Counselors serve schools for the entire academic year. School Counselors work closely with military branch points of contact (POCs) to ensure that program services are provided within the scope of the contract and meet the needs of the assigned installation.
